Which Chains (Economical) Allow 2 Dogs?

Postby oscarxena » Thu May 07, 2009 1:30 am

My family is moving from Las Vegas to Western New York. We have one child (12 yrs. old) and 2 dogs. I'm finding out through pet policies that multiple dogs in one room is not allowed. Which ones allow it?

We have a Yellow Lab (100 lbs) and a Chihuahua (10 lbs). I don't want to set a bad example for my daughter by saying we have 1 and sneaking the 2nd one in but we are under a serious time frame and I need to get my trip in order. Personally I would rather have my 2 dogs in the room as opposed to multiple toddlers!

Thank goodness for this site. I've been ready to tear my hair out over this.

We have two small dogs, 20 lbs each, and have never had a problem with the inexpensive chains (Motel 6, Days Inn, etc.). If you're having a problem, it could be more with the size of your lab. A lot of places have weight restrictions. I think I would search the internet for places which take large dogs. Sometimes if you call them you get more information than might be provided on the internet. Good Luck!

LaQuinta Inns allow 2 dogs any size per room with no extra charge. We just got back from a 4night stay in Virginia Beach Va. It was our 1st time at a LaQuinta but it was a very positive experince. We have 2 dogs a Rotti & a Pit both of wich are tipping the scales at 100lbs each,an they had no problem with that. You also get a free breakfast which is a big time an money saver.Safe travels

No doubt someone has mentioned LaQuinta for pet friendly locations. Some of the hotels in the chain are rather worn looking, but when we take the dogs, we cannot be picky. At least they are usually clean and responsive to problems. We have been pleased with the fact we can stay somewhere and not pay some astronomical amount of money for that privilege.

http://www.dogfriendly.com/

This site lists hotels, restaurants, dog parks etc. If you follow their links you will usually find out how many dogs are allowed.. STAY AWAY FROM HOLIDAY INN. They put rat/mouse poison under the beds and don't tell patrons.

When you know your destination in advance, call the hotel/motel directly. I've found the manager will sometimes override "corporate policy" -- a room booked for the night is better than an empty room. Some chain motels are privately owned franchises, paying for the privilege to use the corporate name. Motel 6 policy is "one well-behaved pet per room" but seeing people travel with two or more of any size is not at all unusual.

We have two cats we travel with and have found the IChoice chain (Comfort Inn, Sleep Inns, Rodeway ++++) to allow up to 2 pets, some with no weight restrictions.

Choice Hotels

Plus we've found them to always be clean and comfortable

I always make it a point that I ask the places that I stay in if they allow pets. So far, I have been lucky with my choice of hotels.
